Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Brookland-Cayce Bearcats

The Georgetown Bulldogs and the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Georgetown has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight losses, while Brookland-Cayce will come in with four straight wins.

Two weeks ago, Georgetown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-33 to Hanahan. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Hawks are ranked 83rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookland-Cayce). They ended the year with a bang, routing Andrews 65-39 on Saturday. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Georgetown better focus on containing Dalacia Rouse and Kamryn Etheredge as the pair were huge in Brookland-Cayce's win. Rouse dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Etheredge went 8 of 19 on her way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards. With that strong performance, Rouse is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Cobb, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Brookland-Cayce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive contests.

Brookland-Cayce's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Georgetown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
