Basketball Recap: Peoria Takes a Loss

Peoria lost against Dysart back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Peoria Panthers fell to the Dysart Demons 54-49. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Demons are ranked 55th).

Dysart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lamar Anderson out in front who went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Dysart, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Peoria will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Deer Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for Dysart, they will head out to challenge Coronado at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Coronado: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Dysart has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
