Football Recap: Danville Finds Playoff Glory Versus Catholic Central

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Danville walked away with it. They breezed past the Catholic Central Crusaders to the tune of 54-0 on Friday. That 54 point margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.

Leading Danville to victory were Cyren Wallace and Parker Proper. Wallace rushed for 118 yards and a pair of scores, while Proper rushed for 34 yards and one TD. Wallace also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Blue Devils are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-5 otherwise. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Briggs Wallace, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Danville's run defense was locked in: Catholic Central could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Jacob Byers for the heroic effort on defense: he. Danville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.2.

Danville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-5.
