Basketball Recap: Gabby Totten Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

Southeast Guilford lost to Page back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Southeast Guilford Falcons came out on top against the Page Pirates by a score of 63-53. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Southeast Guilford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabby Totten led the charge by going 6-for-7 en route to 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Totten a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Sophia Stevens, who went 8-for-13 on her way to 18 points.

Page's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lola Vanore, who posted 14 points along with five assists and five boards. Vanore has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Porsha Thompson was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points and five rebounds.

Southeast Guilford's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Page, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Guilford will square off against Ragsdale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Page, they will challenge Grimsley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Page has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
