Softball Preview: Aquinas Falcons vs. Carter Lions
The Aquinas Falcons will square off against the Carter Lions at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carter took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Aquinas, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Aquinas turned things around against Cajon on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 8-2 win.
Zoey Galindo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Estrada, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Aquinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Carter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Citrus Valley. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Carter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Aquinas, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Aquinas was able to grind out a solid win over Carter when the teams last played back in May of 2022, winning 7-3. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
