Basketball Recap: Stone Takes a Loss

Stone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Laurel Golden Tornadoes 56-3. The game marked the Tomcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Kayllis Walker was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds for Laurel. What's more, Walker also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Zy Evans was another key player, putting up eight points and six steals.

Stone's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Laurel, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stone won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gautier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laurel, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.
