Basketball Recap: McKeesport Comes Up Short

McKeesport lost against Uniontown on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The McKeesport Tigers lost 79-53 to the Uniontown Red Raiders. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-27.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Uniontown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tori Grooms, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. Grooms' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kelan Milsom was another key player, going 8 for 10 on his way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

McKeesport dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Uniontown, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

McKeesport is taking a road trip to challenge Penn-Trafford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Uniontown, they will challenge Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uniontown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Gateway likes a good challenge.
