Recap: Mancos Bluejays vs. Ridgway Demons
The Mancos Bluejays stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. Everything went their way against Ridgway as Mancos made off with a 48-23 victory. Given Mancos' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Ridgway is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mancos found their leader in underclassman Claire Goodwin, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Goodwin has scored at least a third of Mancos' points. Another player making a difference was Quincy Montoya, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Ridgway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elle Borsari. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Borsari hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for four straight games.
Mancos' victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Ridgway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Mancos will be playing at home against Montezuma-Cortez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mancos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Ridgway, they will head out on the road to take on Caprock Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Ridgway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
