League recap: Kuntz breaks off league-leading run for Simon Kenton

Simon Kenton's Brenan Kuntz rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 6 this season in his game against Bullitt Central last week. Kuntz ran for 79 yards on the play and finished with 123 on the day as his team topped the Cougars.

Fans got a thrill when Kuntz and Grant Vercheak connected against Bullitt Central. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 77 yards.

Simon Kenton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kuntz threw for 202 and 4 touchdowns and Vercheak had 128 yards receiving. On the ground Kuntz chipped in 123 yards. Grant Wassom helped Simon Kenton's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 54 yards.

He went 8-16 with 0 interceptions.

Kuntz put up the best numbers through the air as jeff marksberry's team bested Dan Leasor's team. Kuntz's favorite target this week was Vercheak, who caught 3 passes for 128 yards.

Simon Kenton's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kuntz has thrown for 1,980 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Wassom has 43 catches for 665 yards. Kuntz also leads the league in rushing with 781 yards.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 6A District 6 this week, the Pioneers beat the Cougars 43-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
