Baseball Recap: Pine Valley Central Finds Home Field Redemption Against Maple Grove

There's no place like home for Pine Valley Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Maple Grove Red Dragons on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Red Dragons two weeks ago, they had to take a 4-0 loss.

Trent Ivett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Camryn Slade was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nico Lucarelli, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pine Valley Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-16. As for Maple Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
