Van took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Canton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Van Vandals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Canton Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Vandals sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Van's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Canton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-2.

Van and Canton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Van will square off against Lindale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 161 places (111 vs. 272). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Van 3.8, Canton 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Canton (ranked 85th) will meet Kemp (ranked 898th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
