Football Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short

Green Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 34-0 loss at the hands of the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Diamondbacks are ranked third).

Akemi Higa was her usual excellent self, throwing for 233 yards and four touchdowns while completing 86.4% of her passes, and also rushing for 37 yards for Desert Oasis. Higa is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for four or more in the last eight games she's played. Akiko Higa was Akemi's top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Green Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Desert Oasis, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Green Valley will head out to face off against Spring Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Desert Oasis, they will venture away from home to challenge Canyon Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Desert Oasis' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last nine contests.
