Soccer Game Preview: Point Pleasant vs. Capital

The Point Pleasant Big Blacks will square off against the Capital Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Point Pleasant is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Point Pleasant is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Cabell Midland, who was ranked 15th at the time (Point Pleasant was ranked 17th). Neither the Big Blacks nor the Knights could gain the upper hand on Wednesday so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Point Pleasant hit Cabell Midland with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kolby Frum, Tristin Jones, and Joey Pinkerton.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Capital, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Logan a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what Capital needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Point Pleasant's draw gives them a new season record of 9-7-3. As for Capital, the win got them back to even at 8-8-2.

Point Pleasant skirted past Capital 4-3 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Will the Big Blacks repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
