Baseball Recap: Linden Comes Up Short

Linden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Colonia Patriots, falling 19-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Armando Agusti made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliel Olivo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Linden's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Colonia, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Linden will square off against Union at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.42 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Colonia, they will take on Raritan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
