Leake County and Ethel are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Gators will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Leake County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Nanih Waiya on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 20-14 to the Warriors. The Gators have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Leake County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Davion Townsend, who rushed for 117 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 130 yards while completing 72.2% of his passes, was perhaps the best of all. Mashawn Leflore was another key rusher, gaining 136 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Ethel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the Bulldogs.

Ethel's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Leake County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Leake County was dealt a bruising 56-20 loss at the hands of Ethel when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Gators, Marcus Jones (who rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
