Basketball Recap: Brant Wilson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Trego

Smith Center won the last time they faced Trego and things went their way on Friday too. The Smith Center Redmen skirted past the Trego Golden Eagles 60-57. The score was all tied up 23-23 at the break, but the Redmen were the better team in the second half.

Smith Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brant Wilson led the charge by going 9-for-15 en route to 22 points and three steals. Wilson is becoming a predictor of Smith Center's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Daveyon Orr, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points.

Smith Center's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Trego, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Smith Center will challenge Beloit at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Beloit's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. Trego does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
