Baseball Recap: Skutt Catholic Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Skutt Catholic couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Gretna East Griffins by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The SkyHawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Griffins earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Bubba Day spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Skutt Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Van Dyke, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

With the loss, Skutt Catholic broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-6. As for Gretna East, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-10.

While Skutt Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
