Recap: Southern Wake Academy Lions vs. Grace Christian Crusaders
The Southern Wake Academy Lions can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Grace Christian 84-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Southern Wake Academy has posted since December 12, 2023.
Southern Wake Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Crudup, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. Crudup is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Plata, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Grace Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ma'Kyi Butler, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nate Jones, who scored 16 points along with seven assists.
Southern Wake Academy pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Grace Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Wake Academy will take on Woods Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woods Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Southern Wake Academy is ranked 183rd). As for Grace Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Eastern Randolph at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Randolph is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 70 points per game.
