Baseball Recap: Whiteland Takes a Loss

Whiteland was the 6-3 winner over New Palestine when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 4-3 on Monday.

Peyton Dickens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Maalik Perkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Whiteland's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for New Palestine, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Whiteland will head out on the road to take on Franklin Community at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Palestine, they will host Mt. Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 2.9, the Marauders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
