Baseball Recap: Tunkhannock Comes Up Short

Tunkhannock extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They fell 15-10 to the Holy Redeemer Royals. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly five runs.

Jaden Baltrusaitis was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Jack Welles also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Holy Redeemer, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Holy Redeemer's side, the team relied heavily on Alex Gordon, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those five hits gave Gordon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Marranca, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Tunkhannock will challenge MMI Preparatory School at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tunkhannock's pitchers better be ready for this one: MMI Preparatory School has averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Holy Redeemer, they will face off against Pittston at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
