Softball Game Preview: Life Waxahachie Mustangs vs. Ferris Yellowjackets

Life Waxahachie is 0-4 against Ferris since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Life Waxahachie Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Ferris Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. Life Waxahachie has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Life Waxahachie is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 12-1 to Jarrell.

Life Waxahachie saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samirah Folarin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Nevaeh Esparza also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, Life Waxahachie hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ferris made easy work of Lamar on Saturday and carried off a 14-3 win.

Landri Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Madeline Welling was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Valorie Carrillo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Life Waxahachie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Ferris, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7-2.
