Basketball Recap: Boone Grove Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Boone Grove had lost three straight headed into Friday's match, but Jack Stevens didn't let it get to four. The Boone Grove Wolves really took it to the Tri-Township Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-36 victory thanks in part to Stevens, who went 8 of 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 47 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Boone Grove's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Rowland, who posted seven points along with five assists and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Tri-Township still got an impressive performance from Dillon Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 boards. Stewart has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played.

Boone Grove's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Tri-Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Boone Grove and Kankakee Valley will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Tri-Township, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-61 victory against Oregon-Davis on the 21st.
