Softball Recap: Irvin Comes Up Short

Irvin couldn't beat Riverside on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Rockets lost 26-9 to the Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-0 loss back in March.

Irvin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Gonzales, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another was Dalila Medina, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Irvin and nudges their season record down to 4-20. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Irvin is set to face off against their familiar foe Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Riverside will challenge rival Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
