Softball Game Preview: Our Lady Academy Crescents vs. St. Patrick Fighting Irish

Our Lady Academy is 0-10 against St. Patrick since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Our Lady Academy Crescents will face off against the St. Patrick Fighting Irish at 6:30 p.m. Our Lady Academy has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Our Lady Academy came up short against Forrest County Agricultural on Tuesday, falling 14-4. The Crescents have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Our Lady Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Bradford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Patrick). Everything went their way against Perry Central on Thursday as St. Patrick made off with a 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Addysen Peyret was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tara Nasakaitis, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

St. Patrick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got St. Patrick back to even at 6-6. As for Our Lady Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Our Lady Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like St. Patrick struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Our Lady Academy might still be hurting after the 21-0 defeat they got from St. Patrick in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Our Lady Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
