Baseball Recap: Meridian Warriors vs. Kuna Kavemen

Meridian can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Kuna Kavemen. For Meridian, this counts as revenge for the 10-1 defeat Kuna walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Trey Allen and Jake Morrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Allen tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morrow struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Allen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Allen went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, while Morrow scored a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Rylie Byington was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brighton Curnutt, who scored a run and stole a base.

On Kuna's side, Alex Whitt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Meridian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Kuna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Middleton the next time they take the field. Kuna will host Middleton at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Meridian will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
