Baseball Game Preview: Greater New Bedford RVT Bears vs. Apponequet Regional Lakers

The Greater New Bedford RVT Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Apponequet Regional Lakers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Greater New Bedford RVT will be strutting in after a victory while Apponequet Regional will be coming in after a defeat.

Greater New Bedford RVT will bounce into Monday's game after beating Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bears walked away with an 8-4 win over the Falcons on Friday. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly four runs.

The team relied heavily on Boston Bettencourt, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Dorian Fortes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Greater New Bedford RVT was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Apponequet Regional didn't have quite enough to beat Somerset Berkley Regional on Friday and fell 4-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Greater New Bedford RVT and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Apponequet Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Greater New Bedford RVT came up short against Apponequet Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
