Preview: Lake Placid Dragons vs. Mulberry Panthers
The Lake Placid Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mulberry Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lake Placid has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Mulberry will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Thursday, Lake Placid was beaten by Hardee 49-14. Lake Placid was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Despite their loss, Lake Placid saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. August Stivender, who rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 182 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Mulberry beat Poinciana 29-22 on Friday.
Mulberry had a senior duo take command as Dj Duvalt rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries and Dyvonique McWilliams rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Lloyd Knight and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Mulberry's victory.
Lake Placid has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Mulberry, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Lake Placid came up short against Mulberry when the teams last played back in October of 2021, falling 12-0. Will Lake Placid have more luck at home instead of on the road?
