Volleyball Recap: Potter-Dix Comes Up Short

Potter-Dix had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 4-12 to make it five. They fell 2-0 to the Leyton Warriors. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Potter-Dix's offense was headlined by Alexa Shoemaker and Micayla McConnell, who picked up five kills apiece. McConnell really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 14. Corina Mendoza controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

As for Leyton, their win ended a five-match drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Leyton found their leader in freshman Kennedy Roelle, who had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Roelle.

Coincidentally, Potter-Dix and Leyton will both be playing Sandhills/Thedford the next time they take the court. The Coyotes will head out to face the Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
