Baseball Game Preview: Breck Mustangs vs. Richfield Spartans

The Breck Mustangs will challenge the Richfield Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Breck will be strutting in after a win while Richfield will be coming in after a loss.

Breck proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha 2-1.

The team relied heavily on Owen Van Horn, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Richfield couldn't beat Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Spartans took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Breck's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
