Softball Game Preview: Vista Ridge Rangers vs. Weiss Wolves

The Vista Ridge Rangers will be taking part in a tournament against the Weiss Wolves at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Vista Ridge nor Weiss posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Vista Ridge's offense. They lost 10-0 to Cedar Ridge on Tuesday. The Rangers have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Weiss fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hendrickson on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2. The Wolves' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jordynn Booe was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 18 batters over 8.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one stolen base.

Vista Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Weiss, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.
