Softball Recap: Stuarts Draft Extends Winning Streak to Three

Buffalo Gap typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Stuarts Draft proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Bison by a score of 11-7. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Karlee Layne made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Maddy Miller was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Lillian Krieg was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Stuarts Draft now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Buffalo Gap, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

Coming up, Stuarts Draft will challenge Fort Defiance at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Buffalo Gap, they will head out on the road to face off against Parry McCluer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
