Volleyball Recap: Steubenville Takes a Loss

Steubenville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Weir Red Riders. The Big Red were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Riders earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Steubenville sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-18, 5-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-6.

A'Rya Bigsby paced Steubenville's offense, picking up 16 kills. Bigsby got some help from Norah Younce and her 29 assists. Bigsby was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Steubenville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Weir, their win bumped their record up to 5-13-1.

Steubenville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Morgantown on the 7th. As for Weir, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Buckeye Local on the 6th.
