Baseball Recap: Booker Wins Going Away Against Follett

Booker barely beat Follett the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Booker blew past Follett 15-3 on Monday. The Kiowas haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Chase Nelson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Booker is undefeated when Nelson posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Rosales, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Booker's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Brayland Gonzales was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Booker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Booker's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2. As for Follett, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Booker will have a chance to go back-to-back against Follett: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
