Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Bishop's Third in Last Four Outings

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Bishop and Santa Fe Christian, and Bishop's kept the tradition alive. The Bishop's Knights walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Santa Fe Christian Eagles on Tuesday. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 10-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jessica Yao was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Yao was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jayla Stafford was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Bailey Brightenburg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Bishop's lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Bishop's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Santa Fe Christian now has a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop's will challenge Escondido Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Fe Christian, they will square off against Francis Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Francis Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
