League recap: Shore overpowering for Coon Rapids in past week

Northwest Suburban league recap: 6/5/13

Northwest Suburban's top pitcher this week was Coon Rapids's Logan Shore. He won one game and struck out nine batters.

Elk River had a successful week, as it won two total games to lead the league. The Elks beat Princeton 9-2 and Denfeld 10-0.

The Cardinals boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Coon Rapids' Shore struck out nine batters over the past week, bringing his league-leading season total to 51.

The Cardinals' Jake Bruner was locked in this week, and led the league with a .667 average (2-for-3) over that span. For the season, he's hitting .295, good for 12th in the league. Bruner has totaled 18 hits this season.



Shore struck out nine in Coon Rapids' 8-2 win over Champlin Park on May 31. He gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings of work.
