Basketball Recap: Magnificat Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rocky River

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magnificat). They claimed a resounding 74-47 win over the Rocky River Pirates. The Blue Streaks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Rocky River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elizabeth Lang went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Lang is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Bruder, who posted 12 points.

The victory (which was Magnificat's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Rocky River, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Magnificat will be taking part in a tournament against Mount Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mount Notre Dame's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 contests. As for Rocky River, they will face off against Buckeye at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
