Basketball Recap: St. George's Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Benedict at Auburndale last Friday, St. George came back down to earth. The St. George's Gryphons fell to the White Station Spartans 62-57. The loss was the Gryphons' first of the season.

Despite the loss, St. George's saw an underclassman step up: freshman Carson Crump went 9 for 22 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Crump is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jackson Jones was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. George's fell to 4-1. As for White Station, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

St. George's will host Fairley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. George's has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three contests. As for White Station, they will venture away from home to square off against First Assembly Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
