Soccer Game Preview: Waverly vs. Zane Trace

The Waverly Tigers will challenge the Zane Trace Pioneers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly will be strutting in after a win while Zane Trace will be coming in after a defeat.

Waverly gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Northwest 2-1. Waverly haven't had any issues with Northwest recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Leah Walters and Allison Acord scored both of Waverly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Meanwhile, Zane Trace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 4-0 to Unioto. While losing is never fun, Zane Trace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Unioto are ranked 164th).

Waverly picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-12. As for Zane Trace, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12-1.

Waverly took their victory against Zane Trace when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 5-2 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
