Stevens is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clark. Despite 143 more yards than the Cougars, the Falcons couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite their loss, Stevens saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nathan Lopez, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Isaiah Farris handled things on the ground, rushing for 89 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Farris wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Stevens was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clark only rushed for 111.

Meanwhile, Holmes came into Saturday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over MacArthur on Saturday.

Holmes found their leader in underclassman Jayden Hopkins, who rushed for 249 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per carry. Hopkins really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Christopher Geller also helped out as he racked up 142 rushing yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Holmes' defensive line and their three sacks. Leading the way was Jaiden Gilmore and his two. Edgar Camargo was another major factor on D, making 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.

Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Holmes, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Stevens beat Holmes 55-47 in their previous meeting back in September of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stevens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
