Soccer Game Preview: Meridian vs. Western Albemarle

The Meridian Mustangs will face off against the Western Albemarle Warriors at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Meridian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Christiansburg 6-1. Considering Meridian have won ten contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Western Albemarle earned a 3-1 victory over William Monroe on Friday. Given Western Albemarle's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while William Monroe are ranked 121st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Western Albemarle hit William Monroe with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Parker Polk, Ronan MacDonald, and Braden Clarke.

Western Albemarle's win bumped their record up to 15-3-2. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2-2.
