Basketball Game Preview: Mandeville Skippers vs. Ponchatoula Green Wave

Mandeville is 1-9 against Ponchatoula since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mandeville Skippers will venture away from home to challenge the Ponchatoula Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Mandeville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Mandeville will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Amite, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Mandeville took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-27 victory over Amite. The Skippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Alanna Benoit was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 22 points, 11 assists, and 11 steals. Her evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giulia Balbo, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Ponchatoula lost to Southern Lab on the road by a 54-40 margin on Saturday. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mandeville pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.5 points. As for Ponchatoula, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Mandeville was able to grind out a solid victory over Ponchatoula in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 72-65. Will Mandeville repeat their success, or does Ponchatoula have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
