Football Recap: Leuzinger Piles Up the Points Against Culver City

Leuzinger entered their tilt with Culver City on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Centaurs 47-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Olympians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Centaurs are ranked 258th).

Leuzinger's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelton Strickland, who rushed for 149 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Strickland got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 85 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Journee Tonga, who rushed for 75 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.

Leuzinger's run defense was locked in: Culver City could only muster 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Jamaal Fay for the heroic effort on defense: he. Leuzinger didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.7.

Leuzinger didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fay and Jediah Cabs. Cabs got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Culver City lost, don't look at Harley Moore. Despite the final result, he picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Leuzinger's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Culver City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Leuzinger has already played their next game, a 27-14 win against Mira Costa on the 24th. As for Culver City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 48-0 victory against Lawndale on the 24th.
