After a string of 17 wins, Thurston's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sunset Apollos by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 10-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2016.

Thurston's defeat dropped their record down to 21-3. As for Sunset, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8.

Thurston and Sunset should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Colts (ranked third) will meet Ashland (ranked 103rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sunset will take on Beaverton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 83).
