Softball Recap: Lake Park Takes Down Ranked Glenbard North

Lake Park faced Glenbard North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Lancers skirted past the Panthers 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since March 31st.

Gianna Furlano was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandra Kiefer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The victory (which was Lake Park's third in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Glenbard North, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.

Lake Park wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Wheaton-Warrenville South on the 28th. As for Glenbard North, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against St. Charles North on the 28th.
