Baseball Game Preview: Monmouth United Red Storm vs. Rushville-Industry Rockets

The Monmouth United Red Storm will square off against the Rushville-Industry Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monmouth United is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

On Monday, Monmouth United was able to grind out a solid win over Kewanee, taking the game 9-5.

Kellen Boone was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Ian Leffler was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Monmouth United hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rushville-Industry, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Triopia 11-4 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rockets considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Macon Kessler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Rushville-Industry: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady McGinnis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Monmouth United's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Rushville-Industry, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
