Basketball Recap: Seton Hall Prep Skates Past Notre Dame with Ease

There's no place like home for Seton Hall Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 76-47 win over the Notre Dame Irish. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Irish are ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seton Hall Prep found their leader in sophomore Anthony Gonzalez, who posted 24 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ante, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Seton Hall Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Seton Hall Prep's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Notre Dame, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Seton Hall Prep will take on St. Benedict's Prep in a tournament on Saturday. Seton Hall Prep has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three games. As for Notre Dame, they will challenge Red Bank Catholic on February 28th.
