Inter-Valley recap November 5, 2013
Tuscarawas Central Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Inter-Valley. Earlier in the week, the Saints defeated East Canton 15-6.
Malvern moved up to 344 from 383 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of topping Sandy Valley 28-0.
Newcomerstown's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Zufelt threw for 55 yards and Dylan Anderson had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Cody Hall chipped in 100 yards. Austin King helped Newcomerstown's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Zufelt and Anderson proved to be unstoppable against Ridgewood, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. King helped Newcomerstown's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Lucas Dieffenbaugher was a passing and rushing force as the Cardinals fell to Malvern. He completed 3 passes for 27 yards and also ran for 86 yards.
Sandy Valley's Dieffenbaugher and Nate Shepler have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Dieffenbaugher has thrown for 602 yards this season, while Shepler has 21 catches for 291 yards. Jibril Dansby from Newcomerstown leads the league in rushing with 1,706 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Inter-Valley this week, Garaway beat Strasburg-Franklin 56-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Pirates.
