Basketball Recap: University Titans vs. Trinity Christian Academy Eagles

The University Titans can finally bid farewell to their 18-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Trinity Christian Academy 33-31. That looming 33-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for University yet this season.

University found their leader in underclassman A'ziyah James, who scored 11 points. James continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaviany Nelson, who scored six points.

Trinity Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexis Marrero, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marrero has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Haylee Morelli, who scored nine points.

University's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-16. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will play host again and welcome the Sharks, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Atlantic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. St. Joseph Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
