Dayton has gone 9-1 against Linden recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Dayton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Dayton narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Brearley 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Bears since April 11, 2023.
Dayton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Linden). Everything went their way against Dickinson on Saturday as they made off with a 17-11 win. The Tigers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 9-3).
The team relied heavily on Jimmy Santa Maria, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Garcia, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with six stolen bases, five runs, and one triple.
Linden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Linden's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12. As for Dayton, their record now sits at 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dayton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Linden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dayton took their win against Linden in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
