Basketball Recap: Valley Heights Takes a Loss

Valley Heights lost against Hanover back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Valley Heights Mustangs received a blow as they fell 69-50 to the Hanover Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Wildcats are ranked 87th).

Braylon Meyn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hanover, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Meyn's third in a row with at least ten points. Garrett Martin was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and five boards.

Valley Heights' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Hanover, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Valley Heights will venture away from home to face off against Chapman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Heights is facing Chapman at the right time seeing as Chapman is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Hanover, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Axtell. Hanover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Axtell likes a good challenge.
